Bordetella
Influenza is recommended but not required.
Does my dog need to be friendly?

Because we are an in-home training facility, dogs must be safe to handle.
If your dog has aggression concerns, please discuss them with us before booking so we can determine whether we’re the right fit.

Only when appropriate.
Every interaction is carefully supervised.
Some dogs benefit from socialization, while others benefit more from neutrality around other dogs.

Our Training Philosophy
Our goal isn’t just to train your dog.
Our goal is to teach you how to communicate with your dog so the training lasts for years to come.
Training is a lifelong commitment, and owner consistency is the key to long-term success.
Equipment
The equipment needed for your dog’s training depends on the training program and your individual goals. During training, we may use tools such as:
Flat collar
Slip lead
Transitional lead
Long line
E-collar (if approved by the owner)
Place cot
Treat pouch and rewards
We believe every dog is different, and we will discuss the most appropriate training equipment during your consultation. Owners are never required to use a specific tool without understanding its purpose and receiving instruction on how to use it correctly.
If additional equipment is recommended for your dog’s success, we will discuss it with you before purchase.
Board & Train Consultation Requirement
To ensure our Board & Train program is the right fit for your dog, an in-person consultation is required before booking.
During the consultation, we will:
Meet you and your dog.
Evaluate your dog’s temperament, behavior, and training level.
Discuss your training goals and expectations.
Recommend the program that best fits your dog’s needs.
Answer any questions about our training methods, equipment, daily routine, and what to expect during and after the program.
This consultation allows us to ensure your dog is a good fit for our program and helps us create the best possible training plan before your dog’s stay.
What Happens After My Dog Goes Home?
Board & Train is designed to build a strong foundation for both you and your dog. While we spend every day teaching your dog new skills, lasting success depends on consistency once they return home.
Before your dog goes home, you’ll receive:
An optional go-home lesson to teach you how to maintain your dog’s training. $50 add on fee.
How to videos.
Guidance on any training equipment used during the program.
A personalized go home packet with instructions and recommendations.
After your dog returns home, we encourage owners to continue practicing daily. Even just 10–15 minutes of structured training each day can make a significant difference in maintaining and improving your dog’s obedience.
Training is a lifelong commitment. Dogs, like people, need regular practice to keep their skills sharp. Our goal is to give both you and your dog the knowledge, confidence, and foundation needed for long-term success.
If additional help is needed after your program is complete, we’re always happy to recommend the next steps to help you continue progressing toward your goals.
What Dogs Are Not a Good Fit for Board & Train?
While we work with many different breeds, ages, and personalities, not every dog is a good candidate for our Board & Train program.
We may not accept dogs that:
Have a significant bite history toward people.
Require extensive medical care beyond what we can safely provide.
Have contagious illnesses.
Are not current on required vaccinations.
Have behavioral concerns outside the scope of our training programs.
An in person consultation allows us to determine whether our program is the right fit for your dog.
What Should I Bring?
Please bring:
Your dog’s regular food in a labeled container (enough for their entire stay)
Any medications with clear written instructions
Your dog’s regular collar and leash
Any veterinarian instructions if applicable
Please leave the following at home unless we specifically request them:
Dog beds
Toys
Food and water bowls
Treats
Blankets
We provide everything your dog needs to have a safe and comfortable stay.
How Will I Receive Updates?
We provide one daily update each evening between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM, beginning after your dog’s first full day of training.
Updates may include:
Photos
Videos
Progress reports
Areas we’re currently working on
Because we spend our days actively training and caring for dogs, we may not be able to respond to messages immediately. We appreciate your patience and promise to keep you informed throughout your dog’s stay.
My Dog Already Knows Basic Commands.
Many dogs know commands such as sit, down, or stay in familiar environments, but struggle to perform them consistently around distractions.
Our goal is reliability not just knowledge.
Before introducing advanced skills, we ensure your dog can consistently respond the first time they’re asked, even with distractions. A strong foundation leads to long-term success.
Will My Dog Be Around Other Dogs?
Yes, when appropriate.
Every dog is evaluated individually before interacting with other dogs. Socialization is carefully supervised and structured to encourage appropriate behavior while maintaining everyone’s safety.
Not every dog participates in group interactions. We tailor each dog’s experience based on temperament, training goals, and comfort level.
Can My Dog Learn Off Leash?
Many dogs can work toward reliable off-leash obedience, depending on:
The training program selected
Your dog’s progress
Your training goals
Continued practice after going home
Every dog learns at a different pace, so we never promise identical results within a specific timeframe.
What If My Dog Doesn’t Finish Everything on My Wish List?
Every dog learns differently.
Our priority is building a reliable foundation before moving on to advanced behaviors. If additional goals remain after your program, we’ll explain exactly what has been accomplished and recommend the next steps to continue your dog’s progress.
Training is a journey, and we’re committed to helping you succeed long after your dog’s stay.
Do You Guarantee Results?
We guarantee that your dog will receive professional, consistent training throughout their stay.
However, no trainer can ethically guarantee lifelong results because your dog’s continued success depends on consistency once they return home.
Training does not end when your dog leaves our program. Daily practice and follow-through by the owner are essential for maintaining and improving your dog’s obedience.
Should Everyone Use the Same Commands?
Yes.
Consistency is one of the most important parts of successful dog training.
Everyone in the household should use the same command words, expectations, and rules whenever possible. Mixed signals can slow your dog’s progress and create confusion.
Can I Visit My Dog During Board & Train?
To help your dog settle into a consistent routine and make the most of their training experience, we generally do not allow visits during their Board & Train stay. We do allow lessons for $50 per session at any point during the stay.
Mid-program visits can interrupt your dog’s progress, create unnecessary excitement, and make it more difficult for them to focus on learning.
You’ll receive regular updates throughout the program, and your comprehensive go-home lesson will ensure you’re fully prepared to continue your dog’s training at home.
Why Do You Ask So Many Questions?
Before your dog’s stay, we’ll ask you to complete a Pet Resume.
Our Pet Resume helps us get to know your dog before they arrive so we can provide the safest, most personalized care and training possible. It includes information about your dog’s personality, daily routine, medical history, likes and dislikes, training experience, behavior around people and other dogs, feeding schedule, and your goals for their stay.
The more we know about your dog, the better we can tailor their experience, reduce stress, maintain their routine, and help them succeed. There are no “right” or “wrong” answers we simply ask that you answer each question honestly so we can provide the highest level of care.
Think of the Pet Resume as an introduction to your dog’s unique personality. It helps us start building a relationship with your dog before they even walk through our door.
Board & Train Start Dates
To provide each dog with individualized attention and maintain the highest quality of training, Board & Train programs begin on scheduled training start dates rather than any day of the week.
Owners are welcome to board their dog before their scheduled training start date if space is available. During this time, your dog will follow our normal boarding routine until their training program officially begins.
Training start dates are booked in advance and fill quickly, so we recommend reserving your preferred start date as early as possible.
Board & Train Pricing
In addition to our promotional Board & Train packages, we also offer flexible training at our standard rate of $60 per training day.
This option is ideal for owners who:
Need a customized length of stay.
Would like to add additional training days to an existing program.
Want to focus on specific behaviors or goals.
We’ll help you determine the program length that best fits your dog’s training needs and your goals during your in-person consultation.
